With huge thanks to our outgoing President, Amanda Cottrell. We are pleased to announced our new President, Marion Dinwoodie.

Marion has worked within the NHS for more than 40 years. She trained as a pharmacist and, aged 22, was elected to the national Council of the Guild of Hospital Pharmacists and became the body's  Professional Secretary.

Her career path in the NHS mapped the changes that were happening in the NHS. She was  one of the first NHS general managers and, working in North West Thames Regional Health Authority, established 27 NHS Trusts. In the same area, she developed GPs as commissioners in two major towns, which is now the model for the whole country.

Marion started working in Kent in 2002 as a Chief Executive and set up Ashford Primary Care Trust. She then took over Swale and then Dartford, Gravesham and Swanley PCTs and started up West Kent PCT  before moving to Medway PCT in 2006. She moved back to West Kent PCT in 2010.

In her final role before retiring, in her sixth Chief Executive role, Marion set up Kent Community Health NHS Trust in 2011. During her four years there the Trust received a "good" rating from the Care Quality Commission and it became one the first community providers  to become a Foundation Trust in 2015.

Marion served on a number of national working parties, these included revised contracts for dentists, the 'Year of Care Tariff’ and the Independent Commission on 'Whole Person Care’.

Since retiring, Marion has become a business adviser and mentor to a number of charitable organisations and businesses supported by the Kent and Medway Business Fund and  Kent Foundation. She is a Kent Ambassador and is the Programme Manager  for the Ashford, Wye and District  branch of the University of the Third Age.

Marion lives in Charing, plays golf and enjoys travelling.
